HALLOWEEN fans were in a bit of a limbo after the success of 2018’s legacyquel, as the rebooted continuity was ripe for a sequel, and yet nothing was announced for quite some time. But as anyone who’s watched Michael Myers’ antics could tell you, you can’t kill the boogeyman.
Recently, that old chestnut of advice was once again confirmed, as HALLOWEEN KILLS and HALLOWEEN ENDS were announced as twin sequels to director David Gordon Green’s vision of John Carpenter’s legendary horror heavy. Not only is Green back in the director’s chair for these two films, but he’ll also be writing them both with co-writer Danny McBride. Just as Michael Myers will be back for both horrifying chapters, with Nick Castle and James Jude Courtney teaming up to bring Michael to life once again, the Strode/Nelson family will be returning as well.
Jamie Lee Curtis, Judy Greer and Andi Matichak will be filling the roles of Laurie Strode, Karen Nelson and Allyson Nelson, the three generations of Myers hunters that supposedly destroyed Michael in HALLOWEEN, but will have to fight a little harder in the next two films if they want to finish the job.
It’s going to be a tough task at that, with two films set for back-to-back production and release over the course of the next couple of years. HALLOWEEN KILLS, which sees David Gordon Green and Danny McBride collaborating with new co-writer Scott Teems, is set to be released on October 16, 2020. HALLOWEEN ENDS adds writers Paul Brad Logan and Chris Bernier to the mix, and the final chapter will be released on October 15, 2021.

From the sound of things, these last two HALLOWEEN films will close out the Green/McBride run of the Michael Myers saga, which at that point could lead to anything. With Blumhouse Productions backing the film, Jason Blum might just find a way to keep things going past that point, as he has with other franchises like THE PURGE and INSIDIOUS.
Naturally, with a two-movie approach in the future of the HALLOWEEN series, there’s probably going to be one killer ending in the third act of HALLOWEEN KILLS, in order to tease folks back for HALLOWEEN ENDS the year after. Anything could happen in these two new adventures, but one thing’s for certain: Laurie Strode’s fight with the boogeyman is far from over, and it’s up to her and her family to put him to rest once and for all.
Whatever’s in store, it's already being talked up as a crazy pair of films that will blow audiences' minds with where it takes the action next. And that’s something that’s truly scary, but in the best way possible.
