Nadia Hallgren to Mentor IDA+XRM Media Incubator Grant Recipient

The International Documentary Association (IDA) has announced grants totaling US$75,000 to three short documentary filmmakers from Bhutan, Colombia and the U.S. through its IDA+XRM Media Incubator program.

The incubator was established this year with support from XRM Media, a California-based media technology company dedicated to supporting and financing diversity-driven BIPOC content. The program supports short vérité-style documentary films from around the world, with an emphasis on emerging filmmakers and new perspectives.

Acting as both a fund and a mentorship program, the incubator provides production and post-production grants and mentorship from Oscar- and Emmy-nominated directors. This year’s mentors include Oscar-nominated directors Skye Fitzgerald (Hunger Ward) and Smriti Mundhra (St. Louis Superman), and Emmy-nominated director Nadia Hallgren (Becoming).

Three documentaries receiving IDA+XRM Media Incubator grants of $25,000 each are House of Tulip (pictured, U.S.; Cydney Tucker, director; Zaferhan Yumru, producer; Nadia Hallgren, mentor); Mountain Man (Bhutan; Arun Bhattarai, director/producer; Smriti Mundhra, mentor); and People Like Us (Colombia; Pedro Samper Murillo, director/producer; Skye Fitzgerald, mentor).
