May 3rd, 2018 - Outstanding creativity from across the globe is celebrated at the annual D&AD Awards, with
Nadav Kander and Chelsea taking home two coveted pencils at the 2018 ceremony for 'The Last da Vinci'.
Nadav's film, produced for
Christie's with
Droga5, was awarded a Graphite Pencil for Art Direction for Film Advertising and a Wood Pencil for Integrated Campaign.
The spot was a viral sensation when it was released in November of 2017. Chelsea and Droga5 placed hidden cameras under Leonardo da Vinci's "Salvator Mundi", on display at Christie's auction house in NYC ahead of its' much anticipated public sale. The painting sold for over $450 Million, absolutely smashing previous records for art sold at auction, a story that spread like wildfire online, often with Nadav's film in tow.
A montage of mesmerized faces make up the piece, mostly strangers, with brief cameos from Leonardo DiCaprio and Patti Smith. It takes on Nadav's singular, auteurist style and fully translates the power of da Vinci's piece without ever showing it. Adweek called the 4-minute+ spot "sublime" and "lovely, almost transcendental.
