Jack Cole Collaborates to Create Poignant Photographs in Effort to Raise Funds for Intensive Care Society

Chelsea director Jack Cole, along with partner Maisie Broadhead and Sarah Myerscough Gallery,  have launched a new initiative to raise funds for the Intensive Care Society in the UK through the sale of two powerful portraits of Jack’s sister-in-law, Zöe, an Intensive Care Nurse.  After raising over £9,700 for staff wellbeing at the Critical Care Unit at Whittington Hospital, they hope to continue giving back to those who have spent the past year on the frontlines of the global health crisis.

When time stood still for us all in the early days of the pandemic, Jack, Maisie, and their two young children spent time together building and painting the extraordinary theatrical set for the photoshoot of Remains, where Zöe sits proudly defiant in a dilapidated interior that poignantly references the chaos of this time. She reflects, perhaps, on what remains of our past lives and what will remain in the future. The second print, Witness, is not only a stirring re-interpretation of traditional formal portraiture but also a simple image of a courageous woman facing adversity and confronting the viewer with some simple truths; who should we respect and honour in times of crisis? The question must surely be now, how do we reward them?

65% of profits from each sale will be donated to the Intensive Care Society, which provides crucial wellbeing and emotional support to the UK's intensive care community to help them deal with the impact of COVID-19.
