'Dickinson' and the Reclaimed Narrative of A Poet
Executive Producer and Director David Gordon Green helps create a modern day poet in Apple TV's original series 'Dickinson' starring Hailee Steinfeld. A mixture of classical and contemporary styles, the show explores the teenage years of Emily Dickinson and the potentially ignored relationships she had.
'Dickinson' uses bold and heightened visuals to breathe life into a form of writing that has become as outdated as the stigma of queer youth in cinema. Weaving Emily Dickinson's words into a well directed series, the creators hope to expose today's teenagers to the beauty of poetry as well as the relatability of historic figures.

Biography.
David Gordon Green grew up in Dallas, Texas and has been a film lover as long as he can remember, but things really kicked off for him when he was 14-years-old and worked as an extra in Oliver Stone’s film Born on the Fourth of July. After graduating from the North Carolina School of the Arts, he garnered the Best First Film Award from the New York Film Critics Circle and the Discovery Award at the Toronto International Film Festival with his directorial debut film, George Washington.
As a director, writer and producer, his film credits include: All the Real Girls, Pineapple Express, Prince Avalanche, Joe, Manglehorn, Stronger and most recently Halloween, a sequel to the 1978 horror classic, which landed at #1 at the box office for two straight weeks, smashing several records including the biggest opening ever for a film with a female lead over 55. His television credits include HBO hits The Righteous Gemstones, Eastbound and Down and Vice Principals, Amazon series Red Oaks and Apple TV+ Flagship series Dickinson.
