"The wild fires in Oregon this year were some of the worst in US history. Our home city, Portland, lost in the smoke, had a stillness and haunting beauty to it and we felt an urge to film. Initially, we started filming the emptiness of a city shut down. Then we heard the sound of a distant Shofar.
To us, Jorge felt like a mythical figure, like wandering characters in gothic literature. He was traveling the west coast by himself, playing his Shofar with the aim to spread hope. He happened to arrive in Portland that first day we were filming. We realized that Jorge and his Shofar, the symbolism, would be the central thread for this short film."
